4/12/21 Wellness Covid-19 Operations Update
4/12/21 Wellness Covid-19 Operations Update
Good News!! Effective May 5th, 2021 we will be reopening our walk-in Wellness Wednesday program. This means we will no longer be doing appointment-based wellness beginning in May. Instead, we will be seeing animals on a first-come-first-serve basis between 9 am-3 pm every Wednesday. Please plan on waiting 3 hours or more to be seen by the veterinarians. Expect to see a check-in tent in our entry drive on your arrival, please stop there before parking and talk with our staff so we can get you in line and direct you with further instructions. Weather permitting, you can expect dog exams to be performed outside while cat exams are performed inside. This will limit the number of clients in the lobby and allow for social distancing. As our staff and clients become vaccinated we will revisit returning to indoor walk-in wellness. Just a reminder we moved in March of 2020 and our current address is 3500 E Livingston Ave Columbus OH 43227. Thank you and we can't wait to see everybody in May!

Feral Cat Policy Updates
Feral Cat Policy Updates
ATTENTION TRAPPING GROUPS and all good citizens bringing free-roaming cats to our clinic. First of all, THANK YOU for all of your hard work. As most of you are aware, we have been struggling with the increased caseload this summer, as some days we have been presented with OVER 100 animals in one day. We have heard your concerns that this has lead to longer drop off AND pick up times for both the general public and our trusted rescue partners. In an effort to better organize the system while also maintaining current COVID-19 operating protocols, the following will take effect. We hope this will cut down on your wait times and better organize the entire process from start to finish. We want to provide you with the fastest but also SAFEST way to get feral cats fixed.
EFFECTIVE MONDAY AUGUST 24, 2020: SOS of Ohio will no longer be accepting feral or free-roaming cats on a "walk-in" basis. We will now be requiring that ALL patients presenting to the hospital have a pre-arranged appointment time. Drop off time for feral and free-roaming cats will remain 7:30a-noon to allow trappers time to trap and present cats to the clinic.
Trapping groups will be able to schedule bulk appointment times, but will be required to pay for all of their scheduled appointment with ONE "grace" appointment. For example- if a trapping group reserves 5 appointments and only traps 4 cats, they will only be charged for 4 cats. However, if a trapping group schedules 5 cats and only bring 3, they will be charged for 4 cats. The default charge for an absent appointment is $40.
We are also working on an online check-in for our rescue partners to eliminate having to wait in line at ALL when dropping off a free-roaming cat. STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THIS!

Shelter Outreach Services of Ohio
We are a low-cost, nonprofit spay and neuter clinic serving low-income families and animal rescue organizations in the greater Columbus area. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of shelter animals and companion animals of low-income families by providing affordable veterinary care and to help reduce the homeless pet population through spay/neuter programs.
SOS of Ohio was established in 2007 by Dr. Melanie deHaan as a mobile mash clinic serving humane societies and area shelters. In February of 2009, SOS of Ohio was re-established in its current form as a Humane Alliance style, high-volume, stationary clinic serving both rescue organizations and the general public.
While our primary focus remains spay and neuter, we also offer other low-cost veterinary services, vaccinations, and treatments at the time of surgery. SOS of Ohio also hosts a comprehensive set of special programs including our Transport Program, Community Outreach, and Events Team, Feral Cat Program, Spay/Neuter Voucher Program, and holds special benefit events open to the community.
